The combination of the deficit in electricity generation with the breakage of two generating sets located in the transmission center of Loma de San Isidro, south of the capital city, today causes damage to the radio and television signals of the province, reported Yaneisy Álvarez Rodríguez. , director of the Provincial Division of RadioCuba in Sancti Spíritus.

“We have two generator sets that, in one way or another, when the power goes out, they have a waiting time for the equipment to stabilize and the signal to go on the air. There is already an impact there. Then, when the power is restored, there is another wait while the equipment is powered, which generates a new impact,” he explained.
Although this is how the situation behaved until a few days ago, the recent breakdown of the generating sets strains the provision of a much-needed service to the town: “One stopped working due to problems with the transfer and the other, due to the control card.” , he expressed.
According to Álvarez Rodríguez, these are equipment with several years of operation that are not designed to face the tensions of the current generation deficit and he confirmed that, days ago, there were also difficulties with the truck that was to transport the fuel to San Isidro, which It caused the signal to be interrupted for four hours.
The director of the Provincial Division of RadioCuba in Sancti Spíritus, assured that they are working tirelessly to repair the generating sets, although this could take time.
“RadioCuba is not oblivious to the importance of radio and television. We are not sitting still and we are making enormous efforts to restore this equipment as soon as possible so that the signal reaches everyone with the proper quality, but the actions require the disarmament of the groups; as well as the acquisition of parts and pieces that are not available on the market today and that we have to go out and look for them,” he said.

“When there are problems at the Loma de San Isidro transmitter center, the television signal in Fomento and other municipalities is affected, in addition to the Multivisión channel. Also, Topes de Collantes, but not Trinidad or Yaguajay, which have their own transmitters.”
