With great enthusiasm and in the presence of municipal and regional authorities and community leaders, the official start of the work “Preservation of the Los Pinares Park Soccer Field and Multifield” of the Municipality of Antofagasta, a project that aims to improve sports facilities, promoting the well-being and recreation of residents.

The event was highlighted by the participation of Father Marcelo Pizarro, who blessed the initiative, underlining its importance for healthy community recreation.

For his part, Mayor Jonathan Velásquez commented on this initiative, “My goal is to have one of the most illuminated coastlines in Chile and the most integrated in terms of sports and recreation. Here we are building soccer fields, volleyball fields, basketball fields, and first-generation lighting.”

The project covers intervention in five key areas: maintenance and painting of radiators on two foosball and basketball fields; construction of a new radier with paint for two volleyball courts; installation of a new radiator with synthetic grass for the soccer-tennis field; and improvement and replacement of the red dirt carpet on the soccer field. In addition, the replacement of sports and urban equipment will be carried out in the multi-court area and the soccer field.

During the event, a capsule was buried with the project plan and the good wishes of the neighbors and authorities for the success of the park. Krasna Berríos, president of the Costa Azul Neighborhood Council, commented, “I think it’s great, especially for the northern sector, for the families, and I hope they take care of the works”.

Marcos Muñoz, secretary of the Los Pinares Neighborhood Council, expressed his joy saying, “I congratulate the authorities, the Mayor for the continuity, and I invite all those who are going to use this to make good use of and take care of the facilities because it benefits all the inhabitants of our region.”

The project, formulated by the Planning Department and designed by the Study and Design Department of the Municipality’s Communal Planning Secretariat Directorate, was approved and financed by the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR).
