“Repetition has been around for 100 years in the Argentine educational system. Much of the world has already moved on from that. We are thinking of a system more similar to the university, with its rewards and punishments and that is why we believe that what you passed you do not have to do again,” said Sileoni in dialogue with Ramón Indart in Todo en Off on Radio Splendid.

The minister clarified that there is no repetition but there may be a retained trajectory: «For more than four subjects the student will have a period of intensification with his teacher and with other support from the school. While if you have a fifth subject, you have to take that one.”

The controversy arose during the day on Thursday when Sileoni himself announced that the system, which will be implemented in 2025, The student will not be forced to take all the subjects of the year in case of not passing the minimum necessary for that period.

In this way, the measure caused a stir at the national level and in the face of negative comments, the minister explained it again: “Having a retained track record does not mean that you repeat, what you passed you will not take again.”

“We’re going to have overtime modules for other teachers to help with these tasks«. They are not private teachers, he is a support teacher,” she stressed.

Furthermore, the minister confirmed that “There will be a budget reinforcement for these teachers.”

Finally, Sileoni remarked: «We must make the school more attractive for students. He is losing prestige. “We are going to work all this second semester to make it very clear.”
