Leaders and Amazons They are two different programs. the first dedicated to adult women and the second to girls under 18 years of agealthough both are grouped in a comprehensive and transversal program that is intended to promote the development of women and their evolution within triathlon by promoting experiences and values, visualizing all those women who feel a great passion for triathlon, putting in contact with each other to start triathlon.

On the one hand, the leaders, with their knowledge, help through the “meetings” or concentrations with two main objectives of the project, that of increasing the number of women who begin physical activity and triathlon, and on the other give greater visibility to female athletes and technicians. As for the Amazonas program, one of its tasks is to give talks in schools, doing triathlon activities. The technical director of both programs is Diana de la Rosa, who has delegates on each island.

The project comes endorsed by the Higher Sports Council, the Young Sports Foundation and the Spanish Triathlon Federation. The Canarian Triathlon Federation works hard to get the Canarian entities involved in the project.

The last concentration took place on April 27 with some inclusive days within the Lideresas program at the Los Llanos Municipal Swimming Pool in La Palma. A few days where multi transitions were worked on, promoted by Fecantri with the collaboration of the triathlete Elsa Werth, the Athletes Without Borders Association, the Cabildo of La Palma and the Los Llanos City Council. A Swim Run training day was also held on Saturday, April 20, at the Las Teresitas High Performance Center in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Lideresas y Amazonas Program works to prepare new concentrations, looking for free dates left by official competitions.
