A ‘riffrafe’ has been taking place between the District Government Secretariat and the Oriente Airport Concession, due to some irregularities detected in the management of the air terminal.

At the beginning of the week, with the assistance of Civil Aeronautics, Aerocivil, the National Infrastructure Agency, ANI, the District Mayor’s Office and the Concessionaire, a meeting was held to agree on work fronts in order to improve, but apparently, there was no consensus.

While the Concessionaire talks about strategies to improve where some shortcomings have been detected, the District Administration, through Camilo George Díaz, Secretary of Government, expresses the opposite. “Half-truths are being told.”

On their social networks, more precisely on their X accounts, the representative of the Oriente Airports Concession and Goerge Díaz, presented their concepts about the result of said meeting.

EASTERN AIRPORTS

“At the Simón Bolívar International Airport, a meeting called by ANI Colombia, the Concession and the District Mayor’s Office was held. In this meeting, key issues for travelers were addressed,” says one of the posts from the representative of the Concessionaire.

Then in another post he warns that the review of the only access road to the airport was agreed upon; The need to review the arrangement of this road is crucial to guarantee safe and efficient access to the airport. It was agreed to work on prompt solutions by the current administration.

“Traffic and parking control, the problem of road obstruction due to indiscriminate parking of vehicles was discussed. The Mayor’s Office committed to improving traffic control,” says another of the Concessionaire’s posts.

The representative of the Concessionaire also spoke about the conditions of the Malecón Sendero de Luz, the poor state of the pier was another important point. The need for repairs to ensure a safe environment for all was highlighted.

Finally, on its social networks, Aeropuertos de Oriente addressed the issue of maintaining clogged drains, which limit the passage of water and deteriorate the roads. “The importance of regular cleaning and maintenance was agreed upon.”

“The need to increase security was raised, especially on weekends, to control problems related to unauthorized street vendors and improve general security,” reveals another of the entity’s posts.

Finally, the company warns that these issues will be continuously monitored to ensure that the commitments made are met. “We will continue working for the well-being of all our passengers!” the messages conclude.

HALF TRUTHS

The Secretary of the District Government, Camilo George Díaz, upon learning of the Oriente Airport posts on his X account, replied, what he considered “half-truths.”

“Today it exposes illegal outdoor advertising, by not paying taxes or district fees for this purpose. When the measurement process was carried out, they obstructed the environmental authority for this purpose, claiming that they were a national company,” says the official’s first post.

It then warns that serious deficiencies in the provision of the service inside: non-existent air conditioning, closed security filters, boarding docks out of service, limitations on private aviation, external disorder in transit endorsed by the concessionaire, delay of 18 months for the beginning of improvements that have been socialized since then.

“Today Aeropuertos de Oriente is the great anchor that Santa Marta has for its comprehensive development, due to the serious delays in its services. Let’s start with the truth”, concludes the posts of the Secretary of the District Government.
