The electricity rate will be adjusted by increases in Nación and Mendoza.

What are the price increases and the decrease in subsidies that the Nation applied like?

By means of the Resolution 92/2024the Ministry of Energy of the Nation established the new seasonal prices for energy that cover the period included between June 1 and October 31.

In turn, Resolution 90/2024 established the new subsidy caps for residential users.

Those categorized in Level 2 (low income) will have a 72% bonus; with respect to the Tier 1 energy price, up to a maximum consumption of 350 kWh/month (previously without caps); while users categorized in Level 3 (average income) will have a 56% discount on the same price up to the maximum consumption of 250 kWh/month (previously 400kWh/month).

In addition, said Secretariat decided to subsidize the price of energy in the market by 20% for all users.

In the measurements, The Nation also pointed out a benefit for users who do not have access to the gas service of Mendoza (Zona Fría): from June 1 to August 31 The base consumption for those categorized in Level 2 will be up to 700 kWh/month, while it will be 500 kWh/month for users categorized in Level 3. How changes impact the final electricity rate

Taking into account both components of the rate, that is, supply cost plus VAD, and taxes, The average increase in Mendoza will be around 30% for consumption registered since June 1, according to the user’s consumption and their rate category.

The provincial entity made average calculations for residential users to take into account:

  • Residential T1R1 (up to 299kWh bimonthly):

Level 1: $5,000 per month on average, Level 2: $5,251 per month on average, and Level 3: $6,810 per month on average.

  • Residential T1R2 (from 300 to 599kWh bimonthly):

Level 1: $11,249 per month on average, Level 2: $11,975 and Level 3: $15,686 per month on average.

  • Residential T1R3 (greater than 600kWh bimonthly):

Level 1: $28,899 per month on average, Level 2: $38,161 and Level 3: $32,263 per month.

Registration to obtain subsidies is still open

From the Nation they reported that the Registry of Access to Energy Subsidies remains open; while users who have already signed up do not have to sign up again.

Those who have been provisionally included in the RASE at Level 2 (lower income) and have the provincial Social Rate benefit or any other provincial benefit who have not registered, will have a period of 60 calendar days counted from the validity of the present measure, June 5, 2024, to register individually. Once this period has passed, the automatic incorporations in the Registry will be void and the benefit will expire for those who have not completed the registration.

The segmentation is organized into three levels:

  • High-income segment (N1): Households that declare that they meet any of the following conditions, considering all cohabitants:
  1. Total monthly household income equal to or greater than $2,898,553.67. (3.5 basic baskets for a type 2 household according to INDEC).
  2. Have 3 or more vehicles less than 5 years old.
  3. Have 3 or more properties.
  4. Own a boat, a luxury aircraft or be the owner of corporate assets that demonstrate full economic capacity.
  • Middle income segment (N3): Households that are not within the highest income segment and meet any of the following conditions:
  1. Total monthly income between $828,158.19 and $2,898,553.67 (between 1 and 3.5 basic basket for a type 2 household according to INDEC). Exception: for households with one or one cohabitant with a Single Certificate of Disability (CUD), the total monthly income to be part of this segment can vary between $743,697.48 and $1,242,297.29 (between 1.5 and 3.5 baskets basic for a type 2 home according to INDEC).
  2. Own up to 2 properties.
  3. Own up to 1 vehicle less than 3 years old. Exception: households with one cohabitant with a Single Certificate of Disability (CUD) may own up to 1 vehicle less than 3 years old.
  • Lower income segment (N2): These are households that, considering the members of the household as a whole, meet the following conditions:
  1. Net income less than $828,158.19 (1 total basic basket for a type 2 household according to INDEC). Exception: households with one or one cohabitant with a Single Certificate of Disability (CUD), the total monthly income to be part of this segment must be less than $1,242,237.29 (1.5 basic baskets for a type 2 household according to INDEC) .
  2. Own up to 1 property.
  3. Do not own 1 vehicle less than 3 years old. Exception: households with one or a cohabitant with a Single Certificate of Disability (CUD) may own up to 1 vehicle less than 3 years old to be part of the lowest income segment.

Where to check if I am registered or want to register for RASE

To verify if a user is registered in the RASE, you must enter https://epremendoza.gob.ar/segmentacion-tarifaria/, select your distributor and enter your ID Number – Supply, which is located in the upper left corner (Number of 15 digits).

Those users who wish to be included in the RASE must enter the following website: https://www.argentina.gob.ar/subsidios or through the EPRE website https://epremendoza.gob.ar/segmentacion-tarifaria/ and complete the form. It is important that before starting the procedure the user has the following documentation on hand:

  • Meter number and the Customer/Service/Account/Contract or NIS number that are on your electricity and natural gas network bill.
  • DNI (Last copy).
  • CUIL of each member of the household over 18 years of age.
  • Pocket income of each household member over 18 years of age.
  • Email address.

If a community dining room or picnic area registered in ReNaCOM operates at the service address, have the registration number on hand.

On the other hand, the EPRE recalled that the Social Rate benefit and that in the Province of Mendoza reaches around 180,815 residential users.

Call for public hearing for 2025 values

The Provincial Electrical Regulatory Entity, through Resolution EPRE 75/2024 that was published this Friday in the Official Gazette, called to participate in the Public Hearing, according to Provincial Decree 2348/2023, in order to consider, inform and listen to opinions on the Adequacy of the Value Added Distribution (VAD) for next year.

According to what they said, the Adaptation of the VAD Adaptation Procedure and the Minutes of Agreements signed between the Government of the Province of Mendoza and the Distributors will also be submitted for consideration, regarding the interpretation of the aforementioned VAD Update Procedure in force.
