Video: truck went into an abyss and then collided with a Copetran bus on the road between Girón and Zapatoca

The driver of the cargo vehicle was taken to a medical center in the Bucaramanga metropolitan area after presenting fractures. The passengers of the bus suffered minor injuries.

On the road that leads from Girón to the municipality of Zapatoca, Santander, a serious traffic accident occurred, which left one person with serious injuries and others with minor injuries.

The incident occurred after 7:00 pm this Friday, June 7, when a truck belonging to the D1 Stores was descending towards the Gómez Ortiz bridge, located over the Sogamoso River.

For reasons that are being investigated, the driver of the food transport vehicle lost control and went off the road.

“The D1 truck left the road, rolled into an abyss, then returned and went further down, to the other part of the road, where it collided with a bus from the Copetran company, with registration number TTX-487,” he said. to meet Dudwing Alonso Villamizar, head of Communications of the Civil Defense of Santander.

After the crash, the truck driver was the one who was most seriously injured. Some passengers of the intermunicipal transport vehicle suffered minor injuries from glass shearing on their arms, but nothing serious.

“The seriously injured person was the freight driver. Fortunately, there were volunteers from the Civil Defense and personnel from the Zapatoca Hospital, who were traveling through the site, and were able to improvise the rescue of the man from the D1 truck, which lasted about two hours,” added the spokesperson for the orange force.

The victim was rescued and taken in an ambulance to the Girón Hospital. According to the initial medical report, she suffered a fracture of the clavicle in the upper left part.

The vehicles involved in the incident were cleared and traffic returned to normal along this road corridor.
