Córdoba Festival Dance and Dance its Traditions Bonche de Oro Awards

A select group of juries was formed to evaluate the more than 60 musical and dance groups that will participate in the Córdoba Danza y Baila su Tradiciones Bonche de Oro Awards Festival, which for the first time is held at the National Livestock Fair.

This folkloric event will take place this Sunday and holiday Monday at the Montería Convention Center. Admission will be free for those who wish to enjoy a great cultural and artistic spectacle.

One of the members of the jury will be the renowned singer, composer and music producer from Cartagena Juan Carlos Coronel, performer of songs such as “Sin tu affection”, “Prende la Vela”, “Patacón Pisa’o”, among other songs that have marked generations of music lovers in Colombia. In addition, he has been a judge on the X Factor program and winner of the Latin Grammy Award for best Cumbia / Vallenato album in 2011.

The Bonche de Oro Awards will evaluate two branches, dance and music; Both were divided into the children’s category and another category that will house youth and adults.

The music jury table will also be made up of Francisco Zumaqué, one of Cereté’s most beloved sons, an outstanding composer, arranger, producer and orchestra director of Ritmo Caribeño. He is one of the 100 great characters of the 20th century in Colombia and composer of “Colombia Caribe”, the signature song of the Colombian soccer team. He has worked with artists of great international renown.

The trifecta of jurors is completed by Yeison Landero, ‘The heir to cumbia’. Singer-songwriter and accordion player, grandson of the renowned cumbia minstrel, Andrés Landero. Nominated for the Latin Grammy in 2020 in the Cumbia / Vallenato category for his collaboration on the song “Llora cried my accordion.”

For the dance competitions, the evaluating jury will be in charge of Valeria Abuchaibe Rosales, queen number 100 of the Barranquilla Carnival in 2018. Dancer, digital content creator and CEO of CreArte Foundation, which supports the talent of artisan families in the Atlantic . She represented the Barranquilla festivals both nationally and internationally.

Also notable is the presence of Edelmira Massa Zapata, an expert in the artistic traditions of Córdoba and the Caribbean, a teacher in Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia and a Teacher in Dance with an emphasis on community processes. She is a researcher and professor of Fine Arts at the National University of Colombia, daughter of Delia Zapata Olivella and niece of the writer Manuel Zapata Olivella.

There is also Rosana Lignarolo, dancer and choreographer, she was first dancer of the Royal Ballet of the Atlantic at the age of 15, creator of the Contemporary Ballet of Barranquilla and the Pasión Foundation. She is currently one of the most important voices in dance in the Caribbean Region.
