In this sense, Minister Zigarán evaluated this penultimate mission of the international organization as extremely positive, given that the implementation of the Project ends in 2025. “We are very satisfied because we were able to account for the enormous progress that the province has registered in the execution of this project that since the beginning of our management in December 2015 was a priority”.

He also highlighted that together with the EIB and EU specialists they not only talked about the favorable indicators of the project, but “we were able to tour the treatment plants built with their support, in particular the Volcano Collection Point and the Transfer and Classification Station Liberator General San Martín, who are part of this new system”.

“We are proud,” he added, “because a year and a half after completing the project, we laid the foundations for Jujuy to have a new waste management model that guarantees environmental, social and economic solutions for the population, in a context of climate crisis. which humanity faces”.

He mentioned that they were also able to meet with owners and members of the “All Together Foundation”, the “Cooperative La Fortaleza”, a group of “Women Planters” that works taking advantage of and recycling wood waste in Caimancito, and the Program ” Caregivers of the Common House” of the Bishopric of Jujuy, who are being benefited by the project or will be reached in the next disbursements.

The representatives of the EIB and the EU also met with Governor Carlos Sadir, who ratified their commitment to the management, care and conservation of the environment as a provincial public policy; as well as with climate action and in particular with the GIRSU project. The entities appreciated that in the current context Jujuy continues to lead these processes, with great effort and demonstrating results that can be measured with objective indicators. That is why they highlighted that it continues to be a model project for the country and the world.

And finally he thanked and recognized the participation of the mayors and municipal leaders of Libertador General San Martín, Oscar Jayat; San Pedro, Julio Bravo; El Carmen, Víctor Hugo González; and San Salvador de Jujuy, Guillermo Marenco and Agustina Apaza, who participated in a meeting through which progress, needs and challenges of waste management in each jurisdiction were analyzed.
