Alert in the social dialogues of people on the banks of the Magdalena River, the water basins are dying – El Original

In order to recover the ecosystem of the Magdalena Valley and the bank of swamps, which play a priority role in sustaining the food chain in the region, fishermen and the government, develop early warnings to save the swamps that have disappeared due to multiple factors.

The social dialogues of the people on the banks of the Magdalena River met this May 9 of this year in the covered court of the Original in the municipality of Simití, Bolívar, to debate the issue and what route can be followed to save them; with a precise goal, “COP 16 COLOMBIA IN PEACE WITH NATURE”

The meeting of riverbanks was held following the programming that has been proposed since the meeting in the municipality of Peñ+on, Bolívar, which voluntarily debated to analyze the Magdalena River that is being lost; where alarms go off like the Chicagua River, Papayal Brazuelo, Morales Brazuelo and hundreds of swamps that have completely dried up, leaving desolation and hunger in its wake in the fishing communities.

The event was attended by officials from the National government, the technical team of the Environment Ministries; officials of the Risk Management Unit, officials of CoorMagdalena; Representing the Chamber, Dorina Hernández, the political leader Armando Villegas Centeno where, in addition to several mayors, will meet with fishermen and environmental defenders. The meeting of riverside residents invites the Petro government to invest and recover the ecosystem of the Simití swamp complex, which is dying due to pollution.
