Disco includes the ten most iconic songs of Chilean music in the last hundred years; among them, Gracias a la Vida, I remember you Amanda and Arriba en la Cordillera. The first song to be recorded was “Los Continentales”, composed and performed by “El Macha”.

PCdV confirmed that it is moving towards its own Recording Room to support regional musicians; bands and artists that today have nowhere to produce their albums.

In an “innovative and collaborative” action, the Valparaíso-Ex Cárcel Cultural Park has made its Theater – one of the best in the country – available for the recording of Puerto Orquesta’s second album; Buenos Aires musicians invested as cultural ambassadors of Valparaíso by the regional government. Under the direction of the musician and teacher, José Godoy Valenzuela, recording began on the production that will include the ten most iconic songs of Chilean music in the last ten years.

This was confirmed by the president of the Park’s board of directors, Gianina Figueroa, who explained that “this is an absolutely innovative, transformative and gratifying action for the Park; Our Theater today is the recording room for a wonderful production, in which prominent national artists and singer-songwriters will participate. We have also thought about including the public in the recordings, hopefully students of music, production and sound, making the recordings immersive in an experience that will be captured on the album.”

The idea, he added, “is to continue advancing on this path to be able to have our own recording room and thus support talented regional groups and bands, especially young people, who have nowhere to record. For now, our Theater is offering this possibility and we are doing it with Puerto Orquesta and with the generous and valuable collaboration of the artists who will participate.”

The first song on this album was already recorded and was “Los Continentales”, composed and performed by “El Macha”; single that was part of his first album with Block Depresivo and that has become a musical icon. El Macha and his band are one of the most recognized groups nationwide, managing to attract massive audiences in each of their presentations. This recording will be reflected in an audiovisual work that will be exhibited soon in a musical conversation.

As reported by the director of Puerto Orquesta, José Godoy, the second song to be recorded will be “Un Café para Platón”, with Fernando Ubiergo, adding to “I remember you Amanda”, by Víctor Jara; “Thanks to life”, by Violeta Parra, and “Arriba en la cordillera”, by Patricio Manns, among others.

The “Big Band” format was born in 1930 and consists of a large orchestra that contains four trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones plus the harmonic rhythmic base, drums, bass, guitar, piano, the largest popular orchestra format.
