In this regard, ADUL explained that the measure, which affects teachers and non-teachers, “It occurs within the framework of the fight for salary restructuring to which the national government has been turning a deaf ear. Let us remember that the Minister, Sandra Pettovello, had promised to process the funds with the Minister of Economy and did not comply.”

In addition, they reported that on Wednesday they will join the Autonomous CTA in the march that will take place in Buenos Aires to express themselves against the approval of the Bases Law in the Senate. “As we have been highlighting, this project implies more job insecurity, the advancement of privatizations and the deepening of the handover of sovereignty,” they pointed out through a statement.

On Friday, during the announcement of the strike, the general secretary of the Federation of University Teachers (FEDUN), Daniel Ricci, explained the situation of workers in the sector: “Since the massive march in which all Argentinians expressed themselves in defense of the Public University, more than a month has passed and we still have not had any response from the government.”

And he added: “In recent times our salaries continue to deteriorate month by month, we have already lost more than 60% of purchasing power in the face of inflation and we are not going to continue tolerating this deterioration and lack of respect. That is why we are calling for this 48-hour strike and, if we do not have a response, we will deepen the fight plan and call for new force measures.”
