In commemoration of the anniversary of Operation Hope, Signal Colombia, the signal of peace, has prepared a special, today at 4:30 PM, to remember what this important rescue was and also to tell details of this historic operation.
A year ago, we Colombians celebrated the rescue of the four indigenous children who survived the Guaviare jungles for 40 days.
Men from the public force and members of the indigenous communities of the area searched by air and land for the minors who survived the plane crash.

The rescue marked a milestone in the country’s military intelligence operations since it meant joint and articulated work with the indigenous guard, who from spirituality and knowledge of the mother jungle managed to obtain the exact location of the children.
In this regard, Edwin Manchola, a member of the indigenous guard who was part of the rescue operation, commented to RTVC Noticias that:
“The moment we found the children, we took out tobacco, holy water and incense to rid the children of the evil they were carrying and to be able to evacuate them to the nearest unit.”
For his part, General Pedro Sánchez, who led what I know was called Operation Hope, expressed words of gratitude towards the public forces and the indigenous guard:
“Much gratitude goes to the commandos who participated and to the indigenous people, without them we would not have found them alive. The public force joined with the indigenous communities to make the impossible possible.
While our indigenous people used spiritual rites and their knowledge of the jungle, we used satellites, aircraft, and military maps. There was a complementarity between capabilities.
It is worth doing everything until the end as long as we have 1% probability, we will have 100% faith.”
