The motorcycle market accumulates its fourth consecutive decline so far this year and concern is growing in the sector.

The sale of motorcycles in the province of La Rioja fell by 24.9% during the month of April, compared to the same month in 2023. In this way, the motorcycle market in the province accumulated its fourth consecutive drop so far of the year. This was revealed in the monthly report prepared by the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (ACARA), published on the Economía Riojana web portal.
According to the document, in April of this year, 455 motorcycles were sold in the province while, in April of last year, 606 units had been sold, which translates into a 24.9% decline in operations carried out in the sector. . In addition, the ACARA survey also showed that, in April, an average of 15 motorcycles were purchased per day.
On the other hand, regarding motorcycle sales during the first four months of the year, the report shows a decrease of 34%, compared to the same period last year: between January and April 2023, 2,160 motorcycles had been sold, while in the same period this year only 1,425 patents were reported.
In turn, at the country level, operations in the sector decreased by 4.4% in April, compared to the same month of the previous year. This means that, in April, sales in La Rioja were more than 20% below the national average.
Car sales, also with red numbers
According to ACARA, during the month of April in La Rioja, 139 new cars were sold; while, in the same month last year, 150 patents had been registered. This negative difference showed a drop in new car sales of 7.3% in the province.
In turn, in the accumulated period from January to April, sales decreased by 29% compared to the same period of the previous year. The figures indicate that, in the first four months of this year, 520 0 km cars were sold in the province, compared to the 732 vehicles that had been sold in the same period last year.
At the country level, operations in the sector decreased by 5.9% in April, compared to the same month in 2023. This means that the purchase of 0 km cars in La Rioja was 1.4% below the national average .
For its part, the monthly report prepared by the Automotive Chamber of Commerce (CCA) revealed that the sale of used cars in the province of La Rioja suffered a drop of 26.4% during the first four months of the year and, with that figure, The province was ranked second in the country where operations in the sector decreased the most.
In addition, the CAA report revealed that in April 474 used vehicles were sold in the Rioja province, while in the same month last year 514 units had been sold. This determined a 7.8% drop in operations.
Finally, at the country level, sales of used cars increased by 4.6% in April, compared to the same month in 2023. This means that, in the month analyzed, the purchase of used cars in La Rioja was more than 12% lower. below the national average.
