The Senate will have a hot session this Tuesday in which they will discuss two key issues for the Government of Alfredo Cornejo: the Presidential Addendumwhich enables the use of the 1,023 million dollars that were destined for the construction of Portezuelo del Viento, and the Tax Package presented by the Minister of Finance, Víctor Fayad.

Both projects are approved with a simple majority and the ruling party has the necessary votes to achieve the final sanction. In front there will be an opposition that will express its concerns. A point of conflict will be the modification of the formula for distributing the municipal co-participation.

Regarding the Addendum, once it has the green light, the document must be sent to Casa Rosada so that the president Javier Milei confirm this legislative decision so that the provincial Executive can use the funds.

The 1,023 million dollars may be allocated to works that generate repayments or that imply a change in the productive matrix of Mendoza. That was the condition that Cornejo imposed in his speech at the opening of Ordinary Sessions. The initiatives sent by the municipalities must be uploaded to a Project Bank that will be in charge of the Infrastructure Secretariat.

Among the opposition’s claims is the alleged lack of transparency in the information on the projects presented to the Executive and in the criteria that the Executive will have when distributing the works. The Mendoza Union pointed out that “there may be preferences and discriminations”.

Meanwhile, the Fiscal Package has 23 articles divided into three chapters. The first two point to the efficiency and management of the human and material resources of the State. Among the points marked by the opposition blocs are lfor sale from the Acequia Canal or the Provincial Insurance Fundsuch as greater control in “trout certificates” of state employees.

The third section refers to the modification of article 5 of the Provincial Co-Participation Law, where the Executive proposes to modify the Municipal Development Coefficient. According to different provincial senators, this will be the point that “more discussion will have” during the session.

Fully in the numbers, Change Mendoza It has 19 guaranteed votes and would add the support of the southern senators of Peronism (Mauricio Sat, Pedro Serra and Alejandro Barro). These would be joined by the president of the block Adriana Cano and Mercedes Derrache. While the legislator of Democratic PartyArmando Magistretti would also give his endorsement.
