The mayor of Providencia and eventual UDI presidential candidate, Evelyn Mattheimet yesterday with the Chilean directives with the aim of analyzing the results of the opposition coalition after the municipal and gubernatorial primaries held on Sunday.

According to La Tercera, the party presidents, Javier Macaya (UDI), Rodrigo Galilea (RN) and Gloria Hutt (Evópoli), and the general secretaries, María José Hoffmann (UDI), Andrea Balladares (RN) and Juan Carlos Gonzáles (Evópoli).

According to people familiar with the conversation, The idea was to generally review the results obtained during the election day this Sunday and, also, begin to hurry up the definitions for the elections on October 27 of this year, where the positions of mayor, councilors, governors and regional councilors will be voted on.

In the sector they have agreed that the negotiations have taken longer than they should, especially because the Republican Party, Yellows, Democrats and the PDG have joined the talks within the coalition, which has made it difficult to organize in the areas where the most from some of the communities wants to bring a candidate.

In fact, Republicans have repeatedly called on the coalition to quickly close its letters to be able to negotiate with all the names on the table.

According to those present at the meeting with Matthei, the analysis after the primaries was satisfactory, despite the difficulties that remain in the conversations, where it is being studied to transfer some communes to the store led by Arturo Squella and to carry out surveys to define some knots. Among these, Recoleta, where the Republicans take their general secretary, Ruth Hurtado, RN their councilor Felipe Cruz, and the UDI takes Mauricio Smok.

These difficulties have forced the mayor of Providencia to become part of the negotiations, exercising a mediating role when stores cannot unblock a situation. In fact, the presidential figure of unionism would hold weekly conversations with the presidents and general secretaries of the three coalition parties.

Along these lines, Matthei said on CNN Chile radio that “agreeing is much more difficult than when there were three parties,” alluding to the fact that there are other groups such as the Yellows and the Democrats. Thus, he added that “I hope that this week many names will be named where there is greater agreement.”
