La Rioja was, along with Madrid, the first autonomous community to hold the EBAU exams, the test that 2nd year Baccalaureate students face and in which access to university is at stake. This Wednesday the results begin to be known and, in this case, La Rioja will not be the first to publish the provisional grades. In our community we will have to wait until Friday, June 14, the same day that the Canary Islands, Castilla y León and the Valencian Community will meet.

A total of 1,540 students enrolled, 1,433 in the mandatory and voluntary phase and 107 will do so only in the voluntary phase, will know this Friday the grade obtained in the exams. Then there will be time on June 17, 18 and 19 to request a second correction and on June 27 the notes will be published.

The EBAU tests passed last week without incident, beyond complaints about the Mathematics II exam that for many of the students had exercises that were more difficult than the subject taught in classes and statements that were not clear.

The EBAU in La Rioja always achieves very high passing rates. Specifically, last year 97.06% of those who showed up were declared ‘suitable’ and of the 1,367 people who showed up, only 40 failed and 6 did not show up. The average EBAU score in La Rioja in 2023 was 7.499.

However, students who do not pass the test in the first call will be able to take the extraordinary call that is held just one month later, on July 3, 4 and 5.

This will be the last year that the EBAU will be held as in recent years. Today the new Selectivity has been approved, which replaces the name of the Baccalaureate Evaluation and is once again called the University Access Test (PAU). Among other issues, it includes common correction criteria in all territories, up to 10% less grade due to misspellings and choice of questions but with the need to study the entire syllabus.
