The International University of La Rioja (UNIR) has requested this Tuesday, June 11, from all parliamentary groups in La Rioja, the modification of art. 1 of Law 3/2008, which authorized the creation of this virtual university, to be able to provide teaching in all the modalities permitted by law, including face-to-face, “as is the case with all universities authorized since 2021,” according to the entity. teacher.

“We have come to ask Riojan public representatives to update the legal framework of our University, to continue promoting university education, which will contribute to the growth of the region,” declared the rector, José María Vázquez García Peñuela.

For this, according to the rector, it is essential “that UNIR has the same possibilities as the universities created after the approval of RD 640/2021 of July 27, who can provide virtual, hybrid and in-person teaching.”

“Therefore, we only ask to be able to work under the same conditions as other universities,” said the rector.

The rector stressed that «UNIR was born digital and will continue to be fundamentally digital. For the vast majority of its degrees, its modality will always be virtual, but it must have the possibility of providing face-to-face and hybrid teaching in those studies that require it due to various circumstances.
