Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, vice head of the Department of International Relations of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Jorge Luis Alfonso Ramos, representative of the Directorate of Europe and Canada of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex), and part of the diplomatic corps attended the place. of that nation accredited to the island, as well as the ambassadors of the republics of Belarus and Azerbaijan.
Fernando González Llort, president of ICAP, gave a historical account of the relations of friendship and solidarity maintained between Cuba and Russia, where he highlighted the Russian participation in the consolidation and development of the Cuban revolutionary process.
González Llort extended the gratitude of the largest of the Antilles to the Russian State Duma and other government entities for their calls for the immediate cessation of the blockade and the exclusion of Cuba from the list of alleged State sponsors of terrorism, together with the permanent and historical support of many Russian friends in solidarity with these causes.
We defend justice, dialogue in favor of peace and the self-determination of peoples on the basis of respect, which is why we express here the rejection of the strict policy of sanctions imposed on the Eurasian country and the confidence that its people will know how to respond. to those pressures, just as Cubans have done in more than six decades of resistance, he added.
Viktor Koronelli, ambassador of the Russian Federation in Havana, highlighted that his nation currently stands as a strong and prosperous State, with citizens who receive the celebration proud of their identity and the Homeland.
With respect to Cuba, Koronelli described it as a key ally in the Latin American and Caribbean region united in the fight to achieve the realization of a more just and representative multipolar world order.
In this way, he expressed the willingness to re-boost bilateral cooperation in several areas of mutual interest and the willingness to make joint efforts to achieve a higher level of dialogue and cooperation.
Cuba is not and will not be alone, it will always have Russia, without a doubt, together, we will win, he concluded.
The celebrations on June 12 commemorate the Declaration of National Sovereignty of the Russian Federation, approved on the same date but in 1990.
