The naval squadron of the Russian Navy, which will arrive tomorrow in Havana, carried out exercises this Tuesday with virtual missile launches in the Atlantic, as reported today by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“The ships of the Northern Fleet carry out exercises with high-precision missiles in the Atlantic,” said the Ministry of Defense on its Telegram channel, where it published a video, as cited by the agency. Efe.

The squadron, made up of the frigate Gorshkov, the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan, the fleet oil tanker Pashin and the rescue tug Nikolai Chiker, “practices high-precision missile launches through cyber modeling against naval targets.”
The targets used represent naval groups of a virtual enemy more than 600 kilometers away.
Defense noted that several days earlier the Gorshkov frigate practiced air defense exercises with AK-192M artillery systems and Palash anti-aircraft missiles.
A visiting fleet
Last week the Cuban Government confirmed that the Russian squadron will visit the port of Havana between June 12 and 17.
The Ministry of the Cuban Armed Forces (Minfar) stated that “none of the ships are carrying nuclear weapons” and stressed that the scale “does not represent a threat to the region.”

American sources showed no concern. “Russia’s deployments are part of routine naval activity and do not worry us, since they do not represent a direct threat to the United States,” they stated, according to the Spanish agency.
The movement of this fleet has been interpreted as an attempt by the Kremlin to demonstrate force beyond its zone of influence, in the vicinity of the United States. They rule out that it is a real attempt to seek new conflicts, according to Efe.
