The approval of the PP guarantees that UNIR will be able to give face-to-face classes

This Wednesday, the Popular Party presented an initiative to debate in Parliament the updating of the status of the International University of La Rioja (UNIR) so that it can offer face-to-face teaching.

The objective is to update the regulations that regulate the activity of the university so that the teaching modalities comply with what is contemplated in Royal Decree 640/2021, which allows all universities to provide teaching in different modalities (face-to-face, semi-face-to-face and online). ) interchangeably, as has happened in all Spanish universities since 2021.

After the working meeting held on Tuesday with officials of the institution, the Popular Group understands that the arguments put forward by the UNIR are “reasonable” and that they respond to the need to update the current regional regulations to the national legislation approved later.

The Popular Party also considers the need raised by the UNIR, fifteen years after its constitution, to also be able to provide face-to-face studies, with students in the classrooms in any of its centers, to “ensure that this institution can continue to be competitive, developing and growing on equal terms with other similar universities in other communities.

The Popular Group understands that this academic proposal proposed by the UNIR “fits perfectly” with the objective sought by the Law on Urgent Administrative and Budgetary Measures to Improve the Provision of Public Services in La Rioja, which will be debated soon. in the Rioja Parliament, at the proposal of the Popular Parliamentary Group.

The initiative also includes a series of proposals aimed at improving other areas related to education.
