The recent decision made by the municipal administration about the total closure of the Fifth race during the parades has generated debate in the different public spheres of the city, where for many this measure is valid, but for others it is not a correct decision.
Large number of attendees, tolerance, poorly parked vehicles, are some of the reasons given by councilor César Franco, from the Cambio Radical party, who agreed with the decision to close both lanes of the Quinta race in the middle of the parades. .
“It seems to me that it is appropriate, in the end all of us who have a car or motorcycle know that when we are at parties, in full parades, it is almost impossible to go up Fifth,” Franco said.
Faced with this average, councilor Carlos Beltrán, from the Conservative party, points out that when asking Ibaguereños, it was found that these roads remain closed, pointing out that people do want the road closure to occur.
“People do want both lanes to be closed, but it must be taken into account that the Transit Secretariat guarantees constant vehicular traffic on Sixth and Railway”: Beltrán indicated.
One of the main issues taken into account when taking this measure is the use of private vehicles on these dates, since in previous editions people used the streets as public parking spaces.
Taking this into account, Councilor Carlos Beltrán points out the following: “We call on the community not to remove the vehicles.”
Finally, Councilor César Franco calls on the community, highlighting the importance of citizen culture in the development of the festivities, indicating the importance of knowing alternative routes in terms of mobility and thus avoiding chaos in mobility.
“It is essential (…), all the alternatives so that people know how to take the sixth, the Ambala, the Guabinal, the fourth, that they have other alternatives and the commotion is not generated,” he indicated.
