Maule sports authorities highlighted Primos Grimalt’s qualification for his third Olympic Games
Positioning Chile again at the top, Maule and Linares, cousins Esteban and Marco Grimalt, qualified for the Olympic Games for the third consecutive time, this time, Paris 2024.
The duo from Maule, which is part of Team Chile, which has the IND as its main support, achieved this qualification after having obtained the quota at the national level last weekend in Iquique, after winning the Continental Cup.
Through their social networks, the people of Linares commented: “After a great weekend in Iquique winning the Continental Cup as a team, now we had to compete for the spot with our friends, colleagues, the “chickens” (Vicente and Nóe) . It was not easy to face them, because of the love and because we know that this dream was just as important to them. They have a long way to go and they will always find support and a lot of love in us, they will undoubtedly go far. Now, we have no words to describe this great feeling, we only know that without the great work of our team, without the support of our family, without our sponsors and without the love of all of you, this would not have been possible. Thank you”.

The Maule sports authorities congratulated these exponents and the Seremi of Sports, Iván Sepúlveda, assured: “We are very proud of this tremendous achievement achieved by Esteban and Marco. A few days ago we were with Karen Roco, who was the first maulina classified and now this great news has been confirmed, so we wish them every success in this expedition.”
In turn, the Regional Director of IND, Zenén Valenzuela, commented that “Marco and Esteban Grimalt are an inspiration for an entire country, for an entire region and, without a doubt, for an entire city like Linares. What they achieved is something indelible, which will be difficult to surpass, because it is no coincidence to reach the most important sporting event worldwide three times in a row. Congratulations to them for their systematic, planned and professional work, which is undoubtedly evident in obtaining this classification.”
With participation in Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020, the Grimalt Cousins will complete their third presence in the five rings fair with this participation.
