The District of Santa Marta, with 0.11%, in the month of May, was ranked as the second capital city of the country among the 23 main cities with the lowest monthly price variation during the last month, when the national average was 0.43 per hundred.

It was behind Riohacha which was 0.02%. This is expressed in a report from the National Administrative Department of Statistics, Dane, taken up by the Santa Marta como Vamos Program, where it warns that, during the month of May 2024, the consumer price index, CPI.

In this regard, Santa Marta registered a variation of 0.11%, positioning itself 0.32 percentage points (pp) below the national total and 0.63 pp less than the immediately previous month, that is, April 2024, when it was 0 .74.

Of the twelve divisions of goods and services analyzed for the District and those that had the most impact on the variation of the CPI for the last month of May 2024, being below the local average 0.11, they were: Recreation and Culture -0.44, Accommodation, Water, Electricity, Gas and other Fuels -0.39, Restaurant and Hotels -0.06, Education 0.00, Transportation 0.03 and, finally, Information and Communication 0.07.
