The crimes affected companies and businesses in Coyhaique and Puerto Aysén.

The Public Ministry this week formalized a 27-year-old defendant for 5 crimes of robbery and 2 of theft, which occurred between the months of August of last year and June of this year in Puerto Aysén and Coyhaique.

The chief prosecutor of Aysén, Pedro Poblete, explained the investigative procedures that led to the formalization of the individual.

“On Saturday, June 8, the Aysén Local Prosecutor’s Office formalized an investigation regarding an accused as the author of multiple crimes against property. These facts became known on Friday the 7th, regarding a complaint for receiving tires stolen from a car company located in the central sector of the city,” said the chief prosecutor of Aysén.

Prosecutor Poblete added that with the background information it was possible to establish the identity of the detainee, who registered other pending investigations of both the Aysén Local Prosecutor’s Office and the Investigative Focus Prosecutor’s Office (Sacfi) of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

“At least his participation in five other crimes was established, both robbery in an uninhabited place and simple theft that affected companies in the area, such as the Frío Sur fishing company, private merchants from Puerto Aysén and also the company Covepa in Coyhaique,” ​​Poblete added.

With this background, the prosecutor of the Public Ministry declared that it was finally formalized for two crimes of simple theft and five of robbery in an uninhabited place. “The Prosecutor’s Office requested the preventive detention of the accused, which was decreed by the Guarantee Court of this city, setting an investigation period of 60 days for such purposes,” he noted.

The investigative proceedings in this case were carried out both with Carabineros from the Second Police Station of Puerto Aysén, as well as by the Coyhaique Robbery Investigative Brigade and the Puerto Aysén Criminal Investigation Brigade, both of the PDI.
