Within the framework of World Environment Day, the mayor of the municipality of El Banco, Ronald Flórez, reaffirms his commitment to nature conservation by participating in Expoterra Zapatosa 2024, held in Chimichagua, Cesar. This featured event aims to honor and protect the invaluable Ciénaga de Zapatosa, a vital water resource for the region.

During his participation in this emblematic event, Mayor Flórez signed the agreement called ‘Regional District of Integrated Management of the Cenagoso de Zapatosa Complex’. This agreement reflects the firm commitment of the municipal administration of El Banco to the protection of its natural resources. It seeks to consolidate efforts to preserve and conserve ecosystems, with special attention to the Zapatosa swamp complex.

“I had the opportunity to participate in Expoterra Zapatosa 2024, in Chimichagua, César, a space dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and the conservation of our ecosystems, especially the Zapatosa swamp complex. With this, our administration continues to demonstrate its commitment to our communities, promoting tourism, the economy, culture and ecology, turning our territory into an example to follow,” highlighted Mayor Ronald Flórez.

The signing ceremony took place at the Playas del Amor pier in Chimichagua, presided over by the governor of Cesar, Elvia Milena Sanjuan Dávila. In addition to El Banco, the municipalities of Chimichagua, Curumaní, Tamalameque and Chiriguaná, Cesar participated.

The main objective of the regional agreement is the integrated management of the swamp complex, promoting initiatives that promote sustainable development and environmental protection. These efforts are essential to ensure the preservation of this important ecosystem and ensure a prosperous future for generations to come.
