This Friday the 14th, at 8pm, there will be a tribute to the artist 20 years after her departure with the opening of an exhibition titled Drop by drop.
At the Contemporary Art Space (ECA), an exhibition will be inaugurated this Friday the 14th in tribute to the artist Eliana Molinelli, 20 years after her physical departure. The opening will be at 8 p.m., on 9 de Julio and Gutiérrez, City of Mendoza with free entry.
The exhibition is titled Drop by drop and Eliana’s daughters, Natasha and Tania Driban Molinelli, remember the artist in the following way:
“Drop by drop a woman melts. Drop by drop he forges her life, her dreams, drop by drop she collapses in pain, she holds on to kisses. Drop by drop it emerges. Her blood in every drop.
“Eliana Molinelli (1943-2004) was a prominent Mendoza sculptor who specialized in beaten and welded metal. Her work is characterized by the exceptional nature of her craft and her personal vision that gives her sculptures a disturbing expressive realism.
“Eliana Molinelli got involved with controversial content, such as death, religious sentiment, and hot-button issues, such as the murder of María Soledad Morales and José Luis Cabezas. Her ideological concern was current contemporary issues. She lived with passion and had a keen vision of the pain and injustices of everyday life, which is why her works point to emotion, mobilize reflection and are a criticism of human violence and the most vulnerable.
“The figure in his works expresses and symbolizes deeper aspects of the human being and, in that sense, It was ahead of its time: one of his last and most significant works Impunityshows us a female crucifixion and is unprejudiced, since it opposes a religious symbol and a paternalistic religion.
