Almost a month after Roberto Carmona’s sentencing, the Criminal and Correctional Chamber of the 8th Nomination of the city of Córdoba announced the reasons for the sentence to life imprisonment.
The Camera sentenced to life imprisonment Roberto Carmona on May 17 of this year. With this ruling, it is his third sentence to life imprisonment.
Carmona killed taxi driver Javier Rodrigo Bocalón on December 13, 2022 in the city of Córdoba. The man had been transferred by the Chaco Penitentiary Service to the city to visit his partner.
Judges Marcelo Nicolás Jaime, Juan Manuel Ugarte and Eugenio Pérez Moreno convicted the man for the crimes of evasion, qualified robbery in real competition with doubly qualified homicide due to treachery and criminis causae and repeated qualified robbery.
In the foundations, the Chamber highlighted that Carmona acted treacherously against Bocalón. The murderer did not hesitate to cut the taxi driver’s throat with his back turned in order to escape from the scene.
“The sentence in the document speaks of audacity. It implies that there is reckless activity. An absolutely dangerous person who takes advantage of people’s state of vulnerability,” said plaintiff lawyer Carlos Nayi.
Finally, he stated: “(Carmona) is a person who is not prepared to reintegrate into society or resocialize. He constitutes a danger to any human being.”
