From July 8 to 14, with the participation of all the provinces that practice canoeing, Cienfuegos will host this discipline in the School Games.

During the last decade, the canoeists from the Athens of Cuba lead the School Games in the school and youth categories with a wide sporting rivalry between the representatives of Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Havana and Isla de la Juventud to snatch their hegemony from the Yumurinos. , so it is predicted that the sixtieth edition will continue with those nuances.

Dayamí Nicolás Pérez, canoeing commissioner in Cienfuegos, confesses that the conditions are being created in the province for the appointment of school canoeists.

The organizing committee of the games is working on everything related to the organization of the contest, namely insurance and accommodation, to create the conditions and “receive all the provinces on the date that we have the competition, this year has been quite hard for Cienfuegos as for everyone and we have third place from the previous year that we want to maintain or improve.”

“Our athletes are motivated, they are preparing in the final stretch as best as possible, it has been a very short year, but we will always be fighting to do our best.”

The Revienta Cordeles track will also serve as a stage for rowing, the iconic sport of those from this maritime city who have led the competitions of the youth rowing school categories since their debut at the Minerva dam in Villa Clara in 1978.
