Among the various scandals that the government of President Gustavo Petro has faced is that of the 40 tank trucks that were acquired to improve drinking water conditions in La Guajira, but He has now been stationed at the Uribia military base for six months.

The millionaire contract, as it was later learned, was the heart of a network of corruption, where around 15 officials were involved and which cost the director of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD) his job.

The tip of the iceberg in this network was uncovered by the contract for 40 tank trucks to bring water to La Guajira, which cost 46.8 billion pesos. The cars ended up parked and the contracting had an extra cost of 7.7 billion pesos, money that, precisely, would have been used to pay bribes.

After this rotten pot was uncovered, the Attorney General’s Office and the Supreme Court of Justice began to investigate to all involved in the alleged diversion of money that came from Colombians’ taxes.

Those mentioned have been Sandra Ortiz, former advisor for the regions who lost her position by order of the president; Iván Name, president of the Senate who is accused of having delivered 3,000 million pesos; Andrés Calle, president of the Chamber, who along the same lines would have received 1,000 million pesos; José Luis Chagui, congressman from Cereté; representative Manzur; Minister Luis Fernando Velasco; and the current head of the National Intelligence Directorate, Carlos Ramón González.

The Attorney General’s Office even summoned Luis Eduardo López Rosero, the representative of Impoamericana Roger SAS, the company that won the contract to buy the 40 tank cars. His participation played a fundamental role in this network of corruption.

And although Olmedo López began the process of collaboration with justice, delivering more than 200 tests that would help clarify the network of corruption that the entity tookthere are still no conclusive results on this case.

One of the key testimonies of the former director of the Ungrd has to do with the apparent bribes paid to the president of the Senate, Iván Name, and the president of the Chamber, Andrés Calle, for up to 4,000 million pesos. He has also accused Representative Wadith Manzur of receiving benefits from the distribution.
