During Wednesday, June 12, a series of terrorist attacks and harassment against public forces showed an escalation of violence in southwestern Colombia, especially in towns in the departments of Cauca and Valle del Cauca.

During the violent day, two terrorist attacks occurred: the first in the urban area of Jamundí, with a motorcycle loaded with explosives, which left at least six people injured; and the second with a cylinder bomb at the Popayán Police Station, which caused minor injuries to a uniformed officer.

In turn, attacks were recorded against the Police stations in Cajibío and Potrerito; and the harassment of the Argelia military base, Cauca, with drones loaded with explosives, which left three members of the Army with serious injuries.

The intensification of violence has been attributed to the Jaime Martínez front, of the FARC dissidents, who, according to the Secretary of Government of Cauca, Miller Hurtado, on Caracol Radio’s 6AM HOY por HOY, “are better armed than the public force.” ”.
