Francisco received Sebely at the Vatican and sent blessings to Misiones

The mayor of Alem, Matías Sebely, had a meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican. The Supreme Pontiff sent his blessings to the province of Misiones and to the community of Alem, permanent headquarters of the National Coastal Christmas Festival.

Sebely was invited to visit Francis and this meeting took place in the morning hours (Argentine time) this Wednesday at the Vatican headquarters, where the municipal president was able to give him a present from the city and a painting made by the artist. Alberto Mathot, which represents part of the Jesuit ruins.

This motivated a relaxed talk about an anecdote related to who in Argentina was Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio, before becoming Pope on March 13, 2013.

Show German to grow

After his meeting with the person who guides the destinies of the Catholic Church in the world and one of the most influential figures on the planet, Mayor Sebely pointed out that “being able to be here in this holy city, visiting Francis and having him receive us with great joy full of pride as missionaries and Argentines,” he said.

In that sense, he explained that this trip was the product of a personal invitation: “that is why I took a license and it is not an official visit but rather a private one. But beyond that, the fact that the Pope now has our Alem plaque in his office empowers us as a city and shows us to the world.”

Likewise, and regarding his conversation with Francisco, the missionary community leader expressed that “he sends us all his blessing and we were able to talk for a few moments about our land. With this we continue adding management options and alternatives to achieve the great things that we are missing as a city, and that the world is watching us shows us that we are on the right path to truly grow.”
