The Undersecretary of Environment of the Ministry of Production held a meeting with Civil Defense and the General Directorate of Rural and Environmental Crimes to coordinate joint work.
During the meeting, actions were agreed to prevent and eradicate the burning of plant material in the province. In addition, various inter-institutional works were proposed with the aforementioned organizations, linked to sustainable development and care of the environment.
It should be noted that these prevention and safety activities are framed within Provincial Law No. 6253, which prohibits throughout the territory the burning of rooted, rooted, acclimatized or dry vegetation to prevent the degradation of soils, the atmosphere, damage to the health of the population and the imbalance of the ecosystem. In this sense, the Environmental Inspection Directorate has the power, as the competent authority, to supervise, investigate and sanction events that fall within the established infractions.
The director of Environmental Inspection participated in the meeting, Susana Meoni; the director of Legal Affairs of the Production Secretariat, Facundo Moreno Majnach; and the advisor to the Undersecretary of Environment, Marcelo Lizárraga.
On behalf of Rural and Environmental Crimes, the director of the division, inspector commissioner, was present. Silvio Luna; the deputy director, inspector commissioner, Roberto Hisa and the commissioner Alejandra Díaz. For Civil Defense, the deputy director attended, Ramon Luis Imbert.
The population is reminded that it is illegal to burn grasslands, sugar cane (harvested or standing), sugar cane stubble and other remains of vegetation. If you see outbreaks of fire, you can report it by calling 103 Civil Defense.
