In a resounding blow to the financing of the Gulf Clan and its illicit economies, soldiers from the Eleventh Brigade of the National Army carried out simultaneous operations in the departments of Córdoba and Antioquia, managing to locate and destroy in a controlled manner six laboratories used for processing of coca base paste and eight seedbeds belonging to this organized armed group.

The illegal complexes for the manufacture of the alkaloid were found in the rural area of the municipalities of San José de Uré and Tierralta, in Córdoba, and in the sector known as La Siberia, in Valdivia, Antioquia.

During the operations, 70 cans, 321 kilos of coca leaf, 43 gallons of coca base paste in process, as well as large quantities of gasoline, ACPM, artisanal presses and other supplies were destroyed.

According to estimates, these laboratories had a monthly production capacity of approximately 744 kilograms of coca base paste, valued at more than 500 million pesos, which represents a hard blow to the finances of the Clan del Golfo. In addition, eight seedbeds were found with more than 29,000 coca leaf seedlings, whose approximate value would be 53 million pesos.
