During the meeting that President Gustavo Petro held with 25 ambassadors accredited to Europe, the Deputy Minister of Multilateral Affairs, Elizabeth Taylor Jay, He assured that the government will offer humanitarian support for the care of Palestinian children who have been injured in the conflict.

Although the proposal is still being built, the vice minister assured that the minors could be transferred to Colombia to be treated at the military hospital.

“We have made the decision to humanitarian support for Palestinian children who would travel with their families to Colombia for rehabilitation and we hope for the support of the military hospital in Colombia to be able to develop this, also taking into account the expertise that Colombia developed during all this time during the previous conflict and the persistent conflicts,” Jay assured.

The senior official explained that minors and their families could receive comprehensive care, which includes help psychological and medical.

“It is an integral issue, still We do not have a quantification of how many children could go with their families “But we are also appealing to international cooperation and logically also seeking resources from our local capacity in the country to be able to attend to this important humanitarian gesture,” he added.

The vice minister highlighted that some children ended up mutilated or with serious physical problems “to that extent the idea is to be able to say make an assessment “What are the conditions that we are going to address in Colombia and what are the capacities that we would have to do so and also appeal to international support.”
