The World’s Best School Prizes 2024, organized by T4 Education, selected two public schools in Colombia in the list of the best in the world in two categories. These are the La Giralda School, in Bogotá, and the Commercial Educational Institution, in Envigado.

The award has five categories which are community collaboration, environmental action, innovation, overcoming adversity and promoting healthy lives. In 2023, a school in Pitalito, Huila, was the winner in the environmental action category. “As a result of the impact, many Colombian schools applied for the award for the 2024 edition of the World’s Best School Prizes, placing Colombia among the five countries with the most applications received, out of a total of approximately 100 countries around the world,” he explains. the organization of the award in a statement.

The selected list is made up of 50 schools, 10 for each category. La Giralda School was selected among the 10 best in the world in promoting healthy lives for “its innovative Socio-Emotional Gym, an approach that has significantly reduced conflicts and fostered resilience among its 1,400 students who live in a context of social vulnerability.” .

This school is located in the Las Cruces neighborhood, in Bogotá, and implements a strategy that combines physical activity with learning, which is why it has been selected in this category.

In the case of the Commercial Educational Institution of Envigado, it was selected among the 10 best in the environmental action category. “This school turns its students into environmentally conscious citizens who address problems such as air quality or the effects of dengue,” says the award.

The organization of the award with around 200 juries and a series of evaluation criteria, based on which they will choose a winner per category. A prize pool of USD $50,000 will be distributed among the five selected.

In addition, there will be a sixth winner, within the fifty institutions, chosen by public vote. “The school that receives the most votes from the public will receive the “Community Choice Award,” and will be rewarded with a free membership to the program. Best School to Work from T4 Education, a certification for schools that measures and evaluates school culture,” notes the organization.
