From the community of La Carlota, in the municipality of Jovellanos, what appears to be the second tornado in Matanzas in less than a week was sighted this Wednesday.

According to witness reports and official information, fortunately the sighting of the dangerous natural phenomenon was nothing more than that: a report of proximity. In contrast, his “predecessor” did leave multiple havoc.

“Favourable and typical atmospheric conditions for the current time of year led this Wednesday afternoon to the formation of a funnel cloud, tornado or cloud tail, as these phenomena of natural origin are commonly known,” indicated a source. of Radio 26 identified as Yosier Argüeso.

In addition, he confirmed that no damage was reported and that the sighting had only been a scare “for those who saw such a natural phenomenon from their balconies.”

“At the time of writing the information, local authorities were investigating any type of impact in the vicinity of those areas,” he concluded.

So far this day the state press and the Civil Defense bodies have not reported any material damage or loss of life as a result of the tornado.

This is the second hydrometeorological event of this type to affect Matanzas in just a few days. On June 5, another tornado unleashed its force in the town of San Antonio de Cabezas, in the Unión de Reyes municipality.

During the storm, around twenty houses were damaged, in addition to reports of damage to trees and power lines.

A few hours later, from the Provincial Meteorological Center, he later clarified that the damage caused was the result of a “severe local storm” accompanied by strong winds, and not a tornado as previously thought.
