The General Directorate of Investigations and the Anti-Drug Trafficking Police (PCN) filed a formal complaint after a lack of electronic devices seized by the Federal Justice was detected. The elements had to be in the custody of the Federal Police and the Federal Justice. However, they had been left in a PCN warehouse after a protocol change established after the pandemic.
The irregularity was detected after an inventory of the seized assets was carried out by an internal audit as part of its routine controls and inventory verification procedures. In immediate response to these events, The Ministry of Security and Justice decided to separate from their duties the four officers who were in charge of the security of the stored assets.
In addition, the portfolio began an internal investigation to thoroughly determine the circumstances of the case and responsibilities. The complaint was made before the Federal Court of Mendoza and the Federal Prosecutor’s Office.
Meanwhile, the designated Federal Prosecutor began to collect evidence and testimonies to clarify the facts. Likewise, the Argentine National Gendarmerie has been assigned to collaborate in the investigation.
