GORE resources will benefit ten committees in the region.
A historic and unprecedented approval was experienced in the Regional Council, after more than 10 billion pesos ($10,583,270,000) were allocated from the National Regional Development Fund (FNDR) of the Government of Tarapacá, for the construction of homes for 1,320 families from Iquique, Alto Hospicio and Pozo Almonte.
These are five transfer programs presented by Serviu: Altos de Playa Blanca stage II departments (80 families); Altos de Playa Blanca stage II houses (140 families); Brisas del Tamarugal II (432 families); Breezes of Tamarugal III (512 families); and Strength and Hope (156 families), projects that bring together ten housing committees.
The regional resources that represent a complementary subsidy will allow for urbanization works, land preparation, health and electrical infrastructure, saline soil conditions, among others.
The Governor and president of CORE, José Miguel Carvajal congratulated the work of those who pushed the desire of hundreds of families. “I want to thank each of you for having trusted, for waiting these two years and completing this long journey that we completed today. We said that we were going to provide the resources that were needed, and today, finally, in the Regional Council, we managed to get these projects approved, so we are very excited,” said the authority.
He added, “I know it is a very special day, an unforgettable day for you and it is for all of us. We send a hug from the Government of Tarapacá to the leaders who have been working throughout this journey to conclude this beautiful project. Now, we hope that each one, soon, will be able to open the doors of their new homes.”
Giovana Díaz, leader of the Fuerza y Esperanza committee, thanked the CORE members for their approval. «At this moment I am with all the feelings together but very happy, grateful from the heart. Finally, the moment we have been waiting for so long has arrived, not only me, but also the 155 families of the Strength and Hope Committee.
The regional director of Serviu, Patricio Altermatt, declared “It is a very important milestone for the region that the Regional Government of Tarapacá can collaborate with the underfunded housing projects for their execution. The transfer agreement signed between Gore and Serviu Tarapacá will finance projects for a total of approximately $100,000 million, of which the Regional Government contributes a little more than $10,000 million, equivalent to 10% of the total financing. This has allowed all qualified projects ready to be built, which lacked financing for urban, health works or land purchases, to have viability thanks to the vote of the councilors and the regional governor.”
For his part, the counselor and president of the CORE Housing Commission, Abraham Díaz, also had words of recognition. “We are happy because I believe that, first, our advisors were up to the task. The Governor, as always, opened the doors of his workplace to all the residents and inhabitants of Iquique, El Tamarugal and Alto Hospicio. “All the leaders are very excited,” he pointed out.
The ten housing committees that benefited are: Salvador Allende II Group of former political prisoners of Iquique; Strength and hope; Salvador Allende Group of former political prisoners of Iquique; Devotees of San Lorenzo II; Devotees of San Lorenzo III; Sunlight; Canadela; New illusion; Santa Rosa; and Canadela I.
