Consuls from the Netherlands, Spain and Lebanon learned first-hand about the management model of the Cauca River Collaborative Platform, which seeks to recover the basin of this tributary in the Cauca Valley and Cauca, with the purpose of seeking international cooperation for this valuable environmental initiative.

The Government of Valle is part of this Platform, which is made up of academia, civil, public and private organizations. “These entities have been committing for many years to articulate actions for our environment and on this occasion we are exploring cooperation on international issues which can be linked to COP16, since by working with companies from these countries, we will be able to materialize the proposal. environmental of the department, such as the circular economy and thus connect with them through projects to bring resources from abroad to the region,” said Oswaldo Arcos, Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development of the Valley.

Also, in this event held at the Santiago de Cali University, an academic proposal for the defense of water and biodiversity was presented, within the framework of COP16, by the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development.

“Since they started with the project and with the idea of ​​bringing together the commercial associations, students and diplomats, it seemed important to us to support it and that is why we are here, because it is an important resource for the department, on the other hand, Spain agrees in financing part of COP16,” indicated Germán Martínez, Spanish consul for Valle del Cauca and Cauca.

“In the consular corps we have approximately 24 honorary consuls, the majority are from Europe, who can collaborate with COP16 and with the Río Cauca Collaborative Platform,” said Carlos Penagi, consul of Lebanon in Valle del Cauca.
