Today the third session of the Executive Committee of the Patagonian Parks Route Program was held, an innovative project promoted by Corfo that seeks to position Chile as the main world tourist destination in conservation. During this session, Rafaelle Di Biasse, representative of the private sector of the Los Lagos region, was elected as president of the committee. Gonzalo Fuenzalida, representative of the private sector of the Magallanes region of the company Chile Nativo, was elected as the first vice president and Jasmia Yañez from the Aysén region, representing the Zoit Chelenco corporation, was elected as second vice president.

The Patagonia Parks Route program brings together 14 members from the public, private, academic and civil society sectors, and is focused on developing a world-renowned nature tourism destination and conservation of terrestrial and coastal ecosystems. Its objective is to turn Patagonia into a global example of collaborative, responsible and sustainable management, involving communities and improving the competitiveness of tourism and the local economy.

The president of the program highlighted Chile’s advantageous position to lead the world in conservation tourism. “Our country is in an advantageous position to position itself worldwide as the first tourism destination as a result of conservation,” said the president of the Park Route Program.

The project covers three regions Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes in a macro-territory of more than 2 thousand kilometers, including 17 parks, private wild conservation areas, coastal, marine and terrestrial ecosystems. Among them are the last temperate rainforests and subantarctic forests, projecting destinations and experiences that are trending globally.

David Espinoza Regional Director of Corfo Los Lagos (S) explained that the Park Route Program proposes, by 2035, to be a world-renowned tourist destination in nature conservation. Reinforcing that the future of Conservation tourism in Chile has been a priority for Corfo and is part of our mission to position Chile as a world leader in conservation tourism. The Patagonian Parks Route has an incomparable natural wealth, the appointments of Rafaelle Di Biasse as president of the Executive Committee, together with Gonzalo Fuenzalida and Jasmia Yañez as vice presidents, reinforces our commitment to collaborative and representative management of all actors and regions involved. This leadership structure is crucial to ensure that all voices are heard and that tourism development is truly inclusive and beneficial to local communities” he explained.

The Park Route Program aims, by 2035, to be a world-renowned tourist destination in nature conservation, standing out for its collaborative and sustainable management, as well as its positive impact on local communities. This initiative covers three regions: Los Lagos, Aysén and Magallanes, and seeks to boost and improve the competitiveness of tourism and the local economy of Patagonia.
