The FARC dissidents of the Central General Staff (EMC) attacked this Thursday night a Police station in El Carmelo, a rural area of ​​the department of Cauca, in the southwest of the country.

The Army and the Air Force came to support the Police units of this station located in the municipality of Cajibío, where on Wednesday there was also another offensive by dissidents.

“Our troops from the Army’s 29th Brigade begin offensive maneuvers to support our brothers in the Police who are fighting against the residual organized armed group Jaime Martínez in the rural area of ​​Cajibío,” the Army reported in a message on its X account.

The operation has been reinforced “with air support from the Colombian Air Force to safeguard the integrity of the members of the Public Force and the community.”

The damage from this new attack is unknown at the moment, which occurs just a few hours after this morning Jaime Martínez attacked another police station in Cajibío, which left no fatalities or injuries but did leave almost fifty homes affected, according to the Mayor’s report.
