(ADN).- Legislator Fabián Pilquinao expressed his “strong rejection” of the increase in the electricity rate ordered by the government of Río Negro, through the EPRE, authorized to EdERSA. Thus, a member of the Vamos con Todos bloc joined the criticism made by her PJ-NE counterpart, Ana Marks.

In a draft declaration sent to Parliament, Pilquinao indicated that “the increase is excessive and unnecessary” in the face of a scenario of productive deterioration and social impoverishment.

The 8.5% increase was authorized by Alberto Weretilneck to the Provincial Electricity Regulatory Entity of Río Negro (EPRE) by resolution last April 2024.

“The excessive rise in energy scares away the possibility of establishing companies and significantly affects collection at all levels of the State, particularly from the municipalities, the first trench of claims, who are gradually left without the necessary tools to face the crisis of a society that cannot cover its basic needs to survive,” argued the representative of the Vamos con Todos bloc.

He also maintained that “these increases that the company is going to implement must be translated into concrete investments for the Southern Region, which, year after year, suffers power outages that hit society hard. “The neighbors spend long hours without service and there are no responses to the complaints, nor to the projects that are presented to request not only investments but also better quality,” he added.

Finally, Pilquinao made reference to current national events. In this sense, he pointed out that in this framework of “removal of subsidies and increase in rates promoted by the central administration, validating the request of the EDERSA company accentuates the deterioration of the homes of employees, unemployed, retirees and pensioners and, at the same time and with the same intensity, to SMEs, businesses and the different levels of the productive system for whom energy constitutes a vital input.”
