Within the framework of the project “Strengthening Management of Tourist Destinations for the Department of Huila”, this successful awareness day on sustainable tourism was held. The event developed various strategies for the promotion of emerging destinations in the region, aligning with the sustainability trends demanded by both the national and international markets.

This was the first event developed in Neiva and will also be carried out in the municipalities of La Plata, Garzón and Pitalito, from the Secretariat of Economic Development and Tourism with a special invitation to the department’s tourism chain, to join and participate in these important events that contribute to making this activity more responsible and sustainable.

The management of tourist destinations is very important, this phase of the project that is being developed around the development of narratives and their contribution regarding what has to do with the design and development of tourist products, sustainable tourism that is in accordance with the requirements and needs of the national and international market, that is why today we celebrate the development of this event, the participation of the different municipal and departmental actors and also the operators of the tourism sector.”explained the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism Ricardo Vera Torres.

The day featured an outstanding sustainable tourism panel, in which recognized experts and key actors in the tourism sector participated. The discussion revolved around the importance of implementing sustainable practices that contribute to the economic and social development of local communities, while protecting and valuing the natural and cultural environment of the department.

As a fundamental part of the event, an innovative booklet of tourist narratives and a complete implementation guide were presented. These tools are designed to support destinations in creating tourism products that not only attract visitors, but also promote an enriching and sustainable experience.
