Sadness, indignation and surprise were caused this Thursday night by the fact that three teenagers between 14 and 15 years old were caught stealing at the Oriented Secondary School No. 310 José Gervasio Artigas, in San Genaro, San Jerónimo department.
A neighbor noticed suspicious movements of three people coming out with backpacks on their shoulders from inside the educational building, after which he notified the police.
At that moment, the personnel of the 6th Police Station intensified patrolling in that place and on the corner of 19 de Setiembre and Mendoza they saw them, and despite being told to stop, they tried to escape through a vacant lot.
There a foot chase began by the uniformed officers, and behind some bushes they caught up with them. The two 15-year-old teenagers were carrying backpacks inside which they were transporting a large amount of candy and drinks such as sodas and juices, which they had stolen from the school canteen.
The police arrested them and took them to the police station as a guard and then handed them over to their parents. The director of the institution and a professor were also present, who recovered the stolen items.
The local Undersecretariat for Adolescence, Children and Family and the Juvenile Court were informed of the incident because the teenagers were not responsible, although a significant fact was also revealed: the three boys are students of the school from which they robbed…
