With games, students from Bariloche raised awareness about Road Safety

Those who visited the Civic Center in Bariloche this morning were intercepted by fifth-year students from the College of Technical Education (CET) 2 who invited them to participate in some challenges. A question and answer game, a breathalyzer simulation, guessing traffic signs with the promise of winning a prize and the possibility of seeing an ecological car and portable traffic lights were some of the the recreational activities proposed for the closing of Road Safety Awareness Week.

«The idea was to move to the streets and raise awareness through games. People can identify the traffic signs that are on a sign and participate in a raffle, there is a simulation of alcohol testing with a very high alcohol level in which people must put on glasses and circulate between some cones to understand how someone feels in drunk if you get into a vehicle,” summarized Vanina Susa, from the Road Education area dependent on the Bariloche Traffic Directorate.

The CET 2 students presented, in turn, the ecological car with which they will participate in the YPF Challenge in Buenos Aires and two portable traffic lights created by themselves and made available to the city’s schools.

«The car was created by teachers many years ago. We got our hands on it, we restored it. It consists of a car that works through a controller, a 48-volt motor, carries four 12-volt batteries and reaches a maximum speed between 40 and 100 kilometers per hour,” summarized Ignacio Escobar, fifth year.

Marcos Merino, professor of Electricity, Machines and Tools at CET 2, added that “the idea is to raise awareness about ecology.” «One of the traffic lights works with a solar panel; is autonomous; while the other is more oriented towards the pedestrian crossing to Help with arrivals and departures from schools. There are always problems with pedestrians and drivers who do not respect road rules“He indicated, while clarifying: “We always try to connect with the needs of society to help in some way.”

He stressed that the objective is for the Road Traffic Education area to train fifth-year students and, they, in turn, “download” the information to the remaining 600 students at the school.

«The idea is to raise awareness through education. That our students detect complex situations on a daily basis. It is not the same as a traffic officer directing traffic and calling attention to a boy warns his father, for example, that he is not respecting the pedestrian lane or the speed«Merino stressed.
