In development of the most recent security table, the Sincelejo authorities analyzed the results of the plans that are implemented in the city and at the end of it they reported a decrease in the crime of extortion.

Compared to the same time in 2023, extortion has decreased by 12% in the capital of Sucre.

The commander of the Military Gaula, Major Jean Miller Ariza Hurtado, reported that the actions that the institution has been implementing to prevent extortion are those that have allowed these results to be achieved.

In addition to all the actions and strategies led by the municipal administration to confront all crimes and especially extortion of merchants and sellers.

“With our institutional campaign ‘I don’t pay, I report’, we execute strategies for prevention with the support of the different radio stations in the municipality; We hold talks and meetings with the different unions, we install checkpoints on the department’s roads and we hand out information flyers, as well as doing door-to-door in establishments and stores, promoting awareness and prevention,” the officer noted.

For his part, Mayor Yahir Acuña Cardales assured that these results are the product of the commitment of his administration articulated with the public force and the creation and implementation of the Search Block against Multicrime, especially against criminal gangs, to continue guaranteeing security in all corners and contexts of the capital of Sucre.

“The statistics corroborate it, we are living in the safest city in Colombia, and we must take care of that,” said the leader of the Sincelejanos.
