Today, Saturday, June 15, the heart of Huila will beat stronger on the occasion of the commemoration of its 119th anniversary. The date proposes to honor the legacy of our ancestors and to look with hope toward the future.
Huila has traveled a path full of history, since the bravery of the Yalcones and Paeces indigenous people. Until the strength of a fighting people that has managed to earn a prominent place in Colombia. Its imposing landscapes, ranging from the majestic La Tatacoa desert to the snow-capped mountains. They turn this place into a paradise for ecotourism lovers. Today we are a benchmark of progress in Colombia.
“Fortunately for all the people of Huila, this is a department that has made a lot of progress on the ground, it is a well-positioned department. It is one of the five food producing departments par excellence, we are the first producer of coffee, we are the first producer of tilapia, we are very important in agriculture, in tourism, nature tourism, rural tourism, and we also see that there is a resource to be exploited , stated Rodrigo Villalba Mosquera, governor of Huila.
In that sense, the date coincides with the Bambuco Festival in San Juan and San Pedro. Festivals that reflect cultural richness, and that highlight folklore with artistic expressions.
“The gift for the people of Huila is that we are in a prosperous department. And that from the Government we are going to do everything possible in this four-year period to live up to what the department is,” added the governor.
Since yesterday the most important festivals in the region began. The San Juan and San Pedro Bambuco Festival, which will run until June 30. And where locals and visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy days full of culture, joy, wealth and tradition.
