“Everything will be fine, my little brother is very strong”

Loan Danilo Peña He is 5 years old. He is the youngest of eight siblings. His family lives in Nueve de Julio, but he and his father, José, crossed the mountain on horseback to visit his grandmother in the Algarrobal area. Upon arriving, José went to sleep. Loan accompanied three older people to pick oranges. Since then, more than two days ago, nothing has been heard from him. Although only one personal item has appeared so far, his family does not lose hope of finding it: “Everything will be fine, my little brother is very strong.”

This Saturday the authorities They intensified the search operation, in which more than 200 people participate and for which a Sofia alert has already been issued. It includes police officers, volunteer firefighters and neighbors, who tour the area on foot, on horseback and with the help of drones and tracking dogs. A team that arrived from Buenos Aires also joined. The work is hard: It’s been three days and two nights now.

In the middle of picking fruit, the boy said he wanted to go back to his dad. And he disappeared. Seconds later, according to the story of his companions, they tried to look for him. But there were no traces of the child.

That version was questioned by the mother, María Noguera. “Loan doesn’t come out alone, maybe someone saw him alone and grabbed him,” said the woman, although she was suspicious about the witnesses’ accounts, who were delayed.

Now Loan’s brother also raised suspicions about the circumstances of the disappearance.

“Everything is very strange. Loan was very lively, he was not going to give himself up easily, he talks a lot. There is something strange here,” he said. In any case, he reiterated his hope: “We don’t rule out anything, but I believe he is safe and sound. My little brother is very strong.”
