President Javier Milei reaffirmed his alliance with Ukraine in the brief speech he gave at the Peace Summit taking place in Switzerland: “My maximum support to the people of Ukraine and my friend Zelensky, since as defenders of freedom we repudiate any form of violence and war as an illegitimate mechanism to resolve conflicts between nations. War can never be the answer to problems that must be resolved in the political sphere,” he maintained.

And he added: “It is an important step for Argentina to be at the G7 Summit and then here at the Peace Summit, after turning its back on the world for decades.”

This support comes after Argentina was officially included in the Ramstein Group, a group of 57 nations that support Ukraine in its defense against Russia’s invasion since February 24, 2022 by sending military equipment and training.

Milei and his delegation arrived in Zurich from Bari, Italy and there they met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Diana Mondino, who did not attend the G7.

Later, everyone moved to the city of Burgenstock, near Lucerne, where the Peace Summit was held, promoted by Zelensky with the support of the European Union (EU) within the framework of the war confrontation with Russia.

More than 50 leaders participated in the event, including Rishi Sunak (United Kingdom), Emmanuel Macron (France), Olaf Scholz (Germany), Fumio Kishida (Japan), Mark Rutte (Netherlands), Pedro Sánchez (Spain), Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa (Portugal), Ulf Kristersson (Sweden), Alexander De Croo (Belgium), Justin Trudeau (Canada) and Mette Frederiksen (Denmark).

Also attending were Gabriel Boric (Chile), Gustavo Petro (Colombia), Stephan Brunner Neibig (Costa Rica), Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona (Dominican Republic) and Daniel Noboa (Ecuador).

Milei was received at the venue by the host president, Viola Amherd, and by Zelensky, with whom he had a warm greeting. Milei has just participated in the G7 summit, held at the exclusive Borgo Egnazia complex, on the outskirts of Brindisi, in Italy, where she held conversations with the local president, Giorgia Meloni, and other leaders and important executives, such as the director of the Fund International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva.
